Quiet Transformation

Quiet Transformation

Living Spaces & Home Refresh

A home filled with familiar furniture, memories and character had gradually begun to feel heavy and unsettled. Rather than replacing what mattered, the design focused on editing, reorganising and adding carefully chosen colour, light and comfort to create a calmer, more cohesive home.

Connecting Spaces

Connecting Spaces

The hall linking the living spaces, staircase, terrace and garden was simplified in the same way. New furniture, a round rug and a lighter treatment to the structural stair support reduced visual weight, while wall and floor lamps improved the lighting.

With fewer distractions, the timber-panelled ceiling is more noticeable and the eye is naturally drawn through the space towards the terrace and garden. Outdoor furniture and cushions for the low wall extended the sense of comfort beyond the interior.

A Home That Evolved in Stages

A Home That Evolved in Stages

Not every decision was made at once. In the dining area, recently purchased chairs were initially kept. Later, once the new scheme had settled in, the homeowner chose to replace them with a mix of four older chairs that already belonged to her, newly upholstered and brought back into use.

The entrance and cloakroom areas were also simplified and reorganised, and further rooms were refreshed over time. The project became an example of how a home can evolve gradually, allowing each change to happen when it feels right.

A quieter, lighter and more coherent home - achieved not by erasing its history, but by giving the things that matter more space to breathe.
